Microsoft is planning to release the Surface SDK at the upcoming Professional Developer Conference slated for late October

Service pack 1 for Microsoft Expression Media 2 is available for download for Windows and Mac. In this release over 400 bugs were fixed along with the addition of a host of new features including Geo-tagging and Virtual Earth support. More details available on the Microsoft Help & Support website.

Multi-monitor taskbar support coming to Windows 7

The key thing to recognize is that the problem is not necessarily that the taskbar doesn’t span, but that more room is required to show more information about windows. So, it stands to reason that we should come up with the best solution to this problem, independent of how many displays the customer has. We thought it would be good to just offer a brief discussion on the specifics of solving this design problem as it is one we have spent considerable time on. One of the approaches in general we are working to do more of, is to change things when we know it will be a substantial improvement and not also introduce complexities that outweigh the benefits we are trying to achieve.

Sounds like they’ll have a unique solution to the issue.

ZDNet Australia has a piece on the Google and Mozilla implementations of JavaScript and it’s potential effect on Silverlight

I think that the next 18 months we’re going to see a 100 to 1,000 fold speed increase in JavaScript as Google and the guys at Mozilla are going to kick us all in the arse and make our JavaScript jittered

Scott Hanselman’s BabySmash is a WPF application design to keep your kid occupied at the computer. Random smacks on the keys create colored shapes, letters and numbers. The Windows Key, Ctrl-Esc and Alt-Tab keys are disabled so your baby can’t escape the application and make a mess of your system.

Apparently the application has received 20,000 downloads in less than two months

The SingTel Singapore Grand Prix is running a promotion called the SingTel Grid Girls.

In this Silverlight application you choose from one of 20 Grid Girls then complete a quiz to get your compatibility match. If you’re not a match you see a video of her looking disappointed, make a match and you get a special little prize.

Not too shabby.
