Details on the new WPF Yahoo Messenger Beta features

While showing off the Yahoo Messenger Beta at MIX08, Yahoo confirmed that a new beta is on the way.

They haven’t issued a release date, but have said that the new version will focus on VOIP features:

• Free PC-to-PC calls
• Low-cost PC-to-Phone calls
• Phone-to-PC calls for those that have a Phone In number
• Free SMS from the PC to mobile phones
• WPF 3D will be used to display audio visualizations during phone conversations
• Yahoo Mail alerts
