Yahoo Messenger for Vista finally available

Yahoo MessengerYahoo Messenger (preview) for Vista finally available. It looks great. I only wish I knew somebody on Yahoo so I could try it out.

It’s interesting though. Being built in WPF it *should be compatible with Windows XP but from what I can tell it’s only available for Vista. Is it because they don’t want to have to check for the .NET framework?

Either way, it’s a beautiful app. Get it here.

RDVO selected for the Phizzpop Design Challenge

My company (RDVO) has been selected to participate in the Phizzpop Design Challenge! I’ll be posting all the WPF goodness here as it progresses.

Microsoft Phizzpop Design Challenge

phizzpop logoMicrosoft’s Phizzpop is sponsoring an interactive design challenge where top interactive agencies are challenged to come up with innovative applications built on Microsoft technologies.

Looks like anyone can register to attend the receptions in Chicago, LA, Boston and Austin.

36 teams enter. 1 team leaves.

The PhizzPop Design Challenge pits top interactive, Web, and design agencies against one another to push the limits of technology and creativity in a battle royale. Think Mad Max for design.

The regional teams have been selected and will duke it out in New York, Boston, Chicago, Austin, and Los Angeles, with the regional winners competing against one another, and San Francisco winner AKQA, at the South by Southwest Interactive Conference in Austin, TX.

We invite you to register and watch the creativity unfold as you enjoy cocktails.

Free skinable WPF window control

The good folks at WPF Studio sent me a link to their new window control.

WPFTheme is a FREE skinnable / theme-able window control and a set of predefined themes for this WPF window. In a few line, defines the window style you desire, also you can swicth your theme at run time. You will never spend many time on programming for skin support.

Sorry it’s been slow

I’ve gotten several emails in the past week asking why there haven’t been any updates. I haven’t abandoned the site. Things have just been incredibly busy at work and haven’t had time to stay on top of WPF design trends.
